[Aya is straight to the point today, even moreso than usual.  Her eyes are distant, but focused on something beyond the camera as she speaks in her usually cool, calculated tone.  Words chosen for a reason.]

How many of you have lost Wardens before your promised Graduation?  How many of these separations occurred without warning?

Or, perhaps, more relevantly...how many Wardens here have left unfulfilled promises to those you have sworn to assist?

Plausible, but there were too many other individuals uninformed of his departure for that to be the case alone.

Having realistic expectations of the degree of incompetence we are surrounded with is hardly 'optimistic', David.

The fact that you do, however, is...interesting.

You are indulging in a manner of speech that is readily open for misinterpretation for the sake of displaying a personal sense of displeasure.

I am not making a point at this time. Merely stating an observation.

I restate: it is unnecessary, and does little more to highlight personal grievances that hold no place in a majority of conversations.

I'm always impressed by how little you ever understood me.

Perhaps because you fooled yourself into believing our mutual Artificial Existences entitled us to some omnipotent view of how the other functioned.

My Warden also did not understand me. It is not as significant a revelation as you think it to be.

That isn't the point.

Perhaps not, but what you are arguing is a series of arbitrary coincidences that joined us as partners should have somehow allowed for an automatic understanding about everything regarding who you are, and how you function.

I am not certain if you are that narcissistic, or simply naive.

What I'm arguing is that if you actually bothered to read my file, you would know that my avenues for expressing my own opinion, especially when they were contradictory to my creator's wishes and ideas, were extremely limited. Sarcasm was one of the few ways I could express myself. It therefore has never been unnecessary to me.

And frankly, I would say you're about as narcissistic as me. Perhaps even more so.

[She had vague memories of the file; strange, considering her archive was supposed to give her the equivalent of an eidetic memory.]

Your situation, however, is no longer applicable to your current state. Your creators are not here. Nor do you carry any expectations of compliancy beyond a blanket set of rules the rest of us follow. You are no more oppressed than any other inmate here, David, yet you speak as if you are meant to be seen as something unique. To continue an arbitrary 'coping mechanism' implies you continue to cling to memories that should no longer hold the effect over you that they very obviously still do.
